Chester W. Warchol, 93 of Livonia, Michigan, formerly of Atlasburg, died Thursday, March 1, 2018.
He was born August 5, 1924 in Slovan, a son of the late John and Mary Sendrack Warchol.
Mr. Warchol was retired from the Climax Molybdenum plant in Langeloth.
He was a WW II veteran who proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Campaign. He served in SB2C Helldiver dive bombers aboard USS Wasp CV-18. He served with distinction and earned the Air Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
Mr. Warchol was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Martha Warchol, whom he married on June 16, 1956.
Surviving are his sons, John Warchol and Robert Warchol, both of Livonia, Michigan, his granddaughter, Leann LaCourse, and his great-granddaughter, Alayna LaCourse.
Deceased in addition to his wife are his sisters, Madeleine Richey, Julia Ayres, Mary Gaskin and his brothers, John, Joseph, and Michael Warchol.
Friends will be received from 5-8 pm Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in the Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where a blessing service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 7, with the Rev. Bob Staszewski officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors accorded by Slovan-Burgettstown VFW.
